You're making me blush!

It's 4:30 AM and I have to wake up for work. As I slowly climb out of bed, I think how nice it would be to have some sort of fake illness so I don't have to get ready. The baby was up twice in the middle of the night which made for only a couple hours of really good sleep. Good thing he's cute!

I decide that today is a great day for a high bun and a gray/white sweater from Forever 21 with jeans and flats. I'm still wanting to crawl back into bed until I start to put my face on. The concealer conceals, the mascara masks and the pink rose blush wakes me up. Every time I put the blush on, I feel brighter and more awake. I've been buying this blush (and the bronze color) for years. I bet I'm keeping CoverGirl in business. For that price, how can you go wrong?

Running Away.

No matter how cute my almost 9 month old is, sometimes I still need a break. So, I text my friend Eliza and asked if she wanted to meet for a bit. Our usual hangout? Of course! Within minutes we were talking and cruising through the polyester sold in Forever 21. It never fails when I get the shopping itch that I head to Forever 21. It's almost like the Target curse, go in for a small necklace and leave with 15 other pieces.

Of course I couldn't turn down 4 new tops. Here's the one I decided to wear today. I just got these black jeans too at H&M online, since our fabulous (read: not very fashion forward) town doesn't currently have one. I should've guess that $10 jeans won't be the best quality. My zipper kept falling down all day. I might have to take them to my trusty alterations place to get a new zipper. Well, minus the flaws it's a cute outfit. Doesn't having flaws make it better?

Hello again!

Ok, so I've been a little busy. Giving birth and trying to maintain my sanity. Luckily, my fashion is always there. I'm trying to be better about posting for my New Year's Resolution, but who needs to wait till New Year's?! Why put off till tomorrow, what your can do today? Right?!

I've been on a huge shopping binge lately. Which means 2 things: 1. I need more hangers. And 2. Getting dressed in the morning is starting to take longer.  Today I decided to go for comfort. When living in North Dakota, heels when there is freezing rain just isn't smart. I'm no blonde.

I love this new gray sweater from Old Navy, but really I can't wait to take it off. It's quite itchy, not my best purchase, but it's cute. My new jeans from Gap at Clothes Mentor are heaven! Fit like a dream!

Must resist the urge to go shopping tonight....

What time is it?

I wasn't always a watch kind-a-girl, but recently I've taken a liking to them. Last summer on my trip to California, I found an awesome gold bangle type watch that I'm in love with. I love it so much, it's starting to tarnish. So I realized I need to rotate a new watch in. I found the gold boyfriend style watch at Sammoon.com for only $12.50. I was worried it would be the cheapie gold/yellow type, but it's actually a decent watch. I think my next watch purchase will be the last world map vintage watch from Etsy. It has sort of an old man feel to it, which I love.

There is always room for a Sex and the City quote!
Carrie Bradshaw: Sorry. I don't wear your watch.
Alexander Petrovsky: How do you ever know your time?
CB: I find that someone will always tell me. 1:03 did you say?

Better wear a watch, just in case.

Bigger is Better!

Wore my long silver earrings to work today, with my new short haircut they are easier to see. Some people gave me a look, some people thought I had headphones in. Those are one of my favorite jewelry pieces that I've made.

Belt It Out!

Black Snakeskin - $18 - JCPenny
Nude & Coral Perforated Skinny Belt - $29.95 - Lane Bryant
Mustard Leather Belt - $16.99 - Target
Black Bow Skinny Belt - $4.80 - Forever 21

As hard as it is to believe, my past few outfits have been lacking. :) Whenever I feel like I'm missing something or forgot an accessory I am always down in the dumps thinking I'm not as stylish as I could be. I remember one day I told my boss I forgot my ring that goes with an outfit and she asked me if I wanted to go home and get it. Inside I thought, 'Yes!!' But I said, 'No, that's ok.' (it was only my first week of working this job - I didn't want to seem too fashion obsessed, yet).

When a shirt is tucked in a belt defines the waist more and gives some shape. I used to not wear a belt, but since then there have been such cute styles and colors that can really make an outfit pop. I have a handful of belts in neutral colors (with the exception of one blue one) and I could really use some more. I'm thinking about going to get a couple of these ones I posted - especially the bow one. How cute and girly is that?!

Check out these new styles for Spring!

He's Got The Look!

After several questions and advice needed on friend's husband's wardrobes, I've decided to post a Style Your Guy topic. I realize not everyone's husband is as easy going with letting their wife choose the outfit as mine, but if I can take a guy with a Scooby Doo tee and turn him into a guy who wears v-neck sweaters and dress pants or polos and jeans - then it's worth a shot on your man. Yes, he did hook me with his Scooby Doo tee and tapered jeans. What can I say? I'm a sucker for cartoons.

I was researching this topic in stores and found that while spring is coming (hopefully soon), there are still plenty of nice sweaters to be worn. My favorite new look is a grandpa sweater cardigan with jeans. There are a couple different looks underneath that he could go with depending on the event he's wearing it to. If it's more casual, I don't mind a simple screened tee that says something basic (NYC, a brand logo or some type of print) underneath. You might even get him to wear it easier if you show him that he can still wear what he likes underneath. I vetoed the Scooby Doo tee under the sweater. If he is going on a date night or church, try pairing the cardigan with a button down shirt and tie underneath. The looks I found were at Banana Republic, but Old Navy, JCPenny and Gap have basic sweater cardigans that are reasonably priced.

Take advantage of the stylish guy now, because when summer comes all he will want to wear are shorts and a tee.
